A Very English Halloween

This was the boys first proper Halloween. While in England we did trunk or treating or went to a Halloween party, but this was the first time they actually walked door to door in their own neighborhood. They had their PJ Mask costumes on, their candy buckets, and their wellies. I guess God knew we'd be missing England and sometimes even English weather. It was pouring all day long, but the boys didn't mind.

We got our wellies, puddle jumpers and umbrellas and walked to a few houses.

Jack as Cat Boy, Ben as Gekko from the PJ Masks

Ben being a true Englishman didn't even use an umbrella, so he was a bit more soaked than the rest of us by the time we returned.

Checking out their loot became a daily routine the weeks following Halloween.

When we got home from tick-or-treating we let each boy pick one item from their bucket. Jack chose a bag of fruit snacks he'd gotten at school that day and been obsessed with ever since. Ben chose a giant size candy bar that our dear neighbors gave him. He was quickly told he'd have to share that one with Mio and Daddy, though we were impressed with his obviously better choice.
Despite the rain, I'd say it was a good first Halloween.
