Projects

The upside to not having any of our stuff is that we have the time and space to fix some things around the house before trying to arrange everything. The main project was putting some sort of fence up to keep the boys and Chewy in the back yard. Thankfully my parents were able to come help with that as well as beating the garden back into submission.

My parents arrived on my mom's birthday so we had a celebratory dinner in the city before all the work began.
Happy Birthday Grandma!
Grandma and Grandpa brought a bouncy castle. I think this will be well used come winter time.

A job well done!
There are a few more things we have to tend to: finishing up the yard, adding some slats to the pool fence and building a fireplace hearth cover so the boys don't get hurt on the brick mantle. And I'm sure a few more will pop up as well.

Good, Good Father

With the stress that comes from moving it's easy to get bogged down by all the things we have to do in the transition. Thankfully, God has given us quite a few reminders of his great love and goodness.

1. Ben was badly injured during our hotel stay that resulted in a trip to the ER and having a cut glued. About a week later he woke up with a swollen face. God's Goodness: Ben's infection was caught in time and thanks to modern medicine he's healed.

2. I have been so nervous (and still am) about Jack's transition to school. Will he make good friends? Will he adjust to the longer days and possibly no naps? Will he be ok? Will he thrive? God's Goodness: Jack's principal used to live in London so she is very familiar with the school system he came from as well as the culture. He is also in a small class and seems to be enjoying himself. Today at drop off I lingered a few minutes and he turned around and said, "Mio, leave." Of course it stung a bit, but I'm glad he's adjusting.

3. Things have been a little crazy at the house since we have minimal supplies and some safety projects to tackle. God's Goodness: We have been blessed with the BEST neighbors. On our first day, Ms. Jody brought over some groceries for us. She told us that her husband was in the Canadian military so they moved around a lot. She knows where we're coming from! And she's lived in the US as well as the UK! It was just such a comfort and unexpected kindness. Since then her husband has lent John tools and a helping hand. Last night she brought over a giant tub of train tracks for the boys to use until our shipment comes. And bonus! She has 2 college aged children who babysit!

I'm sure there are more but these are the ones that caused me to pause and give thanks for the Good Father we have while this Chris Tomlin song just kept running through my head.

You're a good good father
It's who you are, it's who you are, it's who you are
And I'm loved by you
It's who I am, it's who I am, it's who I am

Home!

We have finally moved into our 'permanent' home! Sure we don't have our stuff until early October, but at least we're out of a hotel. We bought a new bed and received our small fast shipment so we at least have the essentials: toys, a pot and pan, some towels, but mostly toys. And Will finally has a crib and a room of his own! Although I still see him 3 times a night so really not much has changed.

First ice lollies at the new house. Even Will got a taste.
This toy is amazing!

All the boys were excited to have some familiar toys again.

There's been a big time gap in this collection of ours. Life at home with 3 littles in the middle of a pandemic will do that I guess. T...
